For me there have been two main inspirations in the conception of Smogg clothing.
PIET PARRA. Pieter Janssen, aka Parra, is a Dutch artist based in Amsterdam. He started out his career by drawing posters for music venues, and you can now find Parra's designs in fine art. Often compared with Keith Haring or Victor Moscoso, Parra is best known for his curved post-pop imagery.Parr’s a Dutch artist who’s pop inspired artwork which has now become a clothing brand manages to maintain the stylised imagery from his painting whilst creating a street wear brand that has become insanely popular. His style resonates throughout all the streetwear making it unique and instantly capturing a streetwear audience with. Taste for his fine art.

Parras artwork has now become a clothing brand 'ByParra' alongside his fine artwork. He manages to maintain the stylised imagery from his painting and illustrations whilst creating a street wear brand that has become insanely popular. His style resonates throughout all his streetwear making it unique and instantly capturing a streetwear audience who are fans of his fine art. He has been a big inspiration for me in terms of starting Smogg Clothing and making me realise how important it is to maintain my visual language even within my clothing designs.
KESH is another huge inspiration for me. She created a small clothing collection for American Apparel in which it displayed her graphic print over t-shirts, dresses and other unisex clothing. I purchased a two piece Kesh set years ago and she remains to me a huge inspiration for a clothing brand as from using clothing as a canvas she still maintained her unique visual style whilst creating. Collection exciting and immersive enough for it to be successful to the masses.
These two artists present to me how I want Smogg to be, not a separate entity to my artwork but another canvas in which I can present my designs to a wider audience and thus form connections and bonds with more people across the globe.
